Home Building Grant Information
Home Building Grants For NEW Home Builders
Australian Government 5% Deposit Scheme
This scheme allows first-home buyers (and eligible others, e.g., single parents) to purchase a home with a minimum deposit of 5% (or 2% for single parents/legal guardians in their own scheme) and no Lenders Mortgage Insurance (LMI) requirement because the government provides a guarantee to the lender. firsthomebuyers.gov.au+2NAB+2
There are no income caps for the scheme from 1 October 2025 onward and there are unlimited available. Other conditions may apply. NAB+2
First Home Super Saver Scheme (FHSSS)
This is a scheme to help first‐home buyers save for a home by making extra voluntary contributions into their superannuation fund, taking advantage of tax-effective savings, and then withdrawing those amounts (plus earnings) to use toward a deposit.
You can contribute up to $15,000 per financial year of eligible contributions. firsthomebuyers.gov.au+1
A lifetime maximum of $50,000 contributions can be released under the scheme. Australian Taxation Office+1
When you withdraw, there are tax and super-implications (you’ll include the released amount in your tax return for that year).
A one‐off grant payment available to eligible first‐home buyers who buy or build a new home (not an established/resale home) in Queensland. Queensland Government+2Savings.com.au+2
In Queensland, for contracts signed between 20 November 2023 and 30 June 2025, the amount is $30,000. After that it reverts to $15,000 from 1 July 2026.
The property must be valued below a threshold: currently less than $750,000 (including land and home).
First Home Concession – Queensland (Stamp Duty Relief)
A concession or exemption on transfer duty (stamp duty) for eligible first home buyers in Queensland. Queensland Government+1
From 1 May 2025, for new homes or vacant land intended for new build, there’s a full stamp duty exemption with no price cap in certain cases.
For established homes, concessions apply up to certain values (for example homes valued up to ~$800,000 or so) and then phasing out.
This is not legal advise and we suggest that you contact the relevent Goverment Department to assess your eligility.
