No Really, What Do You Mean By ‘Custom Home Design?’

When you’re speaking to builders about pulling together your dream home, chances are you’ll have had different interpretations from different service providers across Hervey Bay, Gympie and the Sunshine Coast. You see, ‘custom home design’ can be a slippery term that can be taken in a multitude of ways. Does it simply mean being able to choose your colour scheme and finishes from a list of options? Or does it mean being able to choose everything from layout to landscaping, fixtures and fittings to how many fireplaces you have? The honest answer is: ‘it’ll depend’. So it’s best to ask the questions you have early in the conversation. Here’s what custom means to us:

1. If you can dream it, we can build it*

Ok, so you would have noted the asterisk attached to this statement. A few caveats to note when dreaming up your custom home design… BUDGET: We covered this in our last blog, too, but make sure your expectations match up with your budget. Taking inspiration from The Block or Pinterest has its benefits, but there are also plenty of pitfalls. Be prepared to make compromises if the online world doesn’t match up with your financial reality. If your budget doesn’t stretch to fully customised floorplans and interiors, we have more than 60 plans for you to choose from that can be altered and tweaked to suit the way you plan to live in your home. And of course, there is still so much to customise when you’re using one of our done-for-you plans. PRACTICALITY: You’re dreaming of building an inverted treehouse made almost entirely of palazzo marble? Sounds amazing. But is it something we could actually build to code for you? Unfortunately not. The good news is that with more than 30 years in the home building industry, we know exactly what’s achievable, and will proactively collaborate with you to build the dream custom home that will last the test of time.

2. It’s going to be easy…

We’ve made the process of custom home design as easy and accessible as possible for our clients. That’s not to say that there won’t be the odd stressful moment, or agonising choice to make when finalising what your dream home will look like. These are important decisions! We simply use the latest technologies to make customising a breeze. No lengthy appointments (unless you want one), just the flexibility to choose what you like in your own time and space.
